Whether you can change it depends on the email address itself. In other words, if you want to change your iCloud email, you need to change the email address associated with your Apple ID.
In this article, we will show you how to change your iCloud email address through your Apple ID. In addition, you will learn how to change your secondary iCloud email address.
There are many reasons you might want to change your iCloud email address. Maybe you have several email addresses, and you want to connect them all to your iCloud account. Maybe you’ve created a new business email account and want to link it to your iCloud account. Likewise, changing it to something more professional is smart if you’ve been using the same email address since high school and have an awkward name.
How To Delete An Icloud Account From An Iphone / Ipad
Before we explain how to change your iCloud email address, it’s important to note that your iCloud account and Apple ID account use the same email address. This is also known as your primary email address. This email address not only allows you to access your iCloud account, but also other apps on your Apple device, such as the App Store, iMessage, Apple Music or Facetime.
With so much relying on one email address, is it possible to change your iCloud email? Well, it depends on the email address. If the email address associated with your iCloud account and linked to your Apple ID ends with “@icloud.com”, it cannot be changed. However, if it ends with “@gmail.com,” “@yahoo.com,” or something else, you have the option to change it if you want.
Note that if you can’t change your primary email, you can change your secondary iCloud email address, which we’ll cover later.
If you have the option to change your primary email, the good news is that it can be done directly in your iPhone settings. The whole process only takes a few minutes. Follow the steps below to see how to change your iCloud email address with Apple ID on your iPhone:

After doing this, the automated system will send a verification code to the email address you entered. Once you’ve verified your new Apple ID email address, you’ll get a notification saying “Your Apple ID has been updated” on your phone. The next time you sign in to your iCloud account, use the new Apple ID you just added. You won’t need any changes to your iCloud account; it will be updated automatically.
Many iCloud users don’t realize that they can change their email address this way. They mistakenly assume that deleting their old Apple ID will delete iCloud storage from all their devices. To change your Apple ID, you must delete your old one. However, this will not interfere with files and data stored on your iCloud. The only thing that will be deleted is the iCloud account settings.
If you don’t have access to your phone right now, you can also change your Apple ID on your computer. Here’s how to change your primary iCloud email with your Apple ID on your Mac or Windows:
If you have changed your email address, open your email in a new window and confirm the confirmation email. If you don’t receive the email, you have the option to send it from your Apple ID account. After you change the email associated with your Apple ID, you’ll be signed out of your iCloud. Don’t forget to go back to your iCloud account and sign in with your new Apple ID.

If you use your Apple ID to sign in to an app on your iPhone, you’ll also be automatically signed out of that app. Make sure you sign back into all apps with your new Apple ID.
If you receive a message that the email address you want to use for your iCloud account is not available, it is possible that it is associated with a different Apple ID. If that’s the case, you’ll need to remove the email address from the other Apple ID before linking it to yours.
As mentioned earlier, you may not be allowed to change your primary iCloud email address. For example, if you’ve created an iCloud account more than 30 days ago, you can’t change your Apple ID email address. Apple imposes certain limits on changing email addresses, and sometimes you just get a message to try again later.
In a case like this, the only thing you can do is to add a second email to your Apple ID account. Up to three email addresses can be associated with your Apple ID account. While the primary iCloud address cannot be changed, the second and third email can. Here’s how:

Again, you must verify the new email address, even if it is a second email. That’s all there is. You have successfully added a new email address to your iCloud account.
If you’ve forgotten the email you used for your Apple ID, you’ll need to check all your other Apple accounts for that email address. Go to your App Store, other devices, iTunes, etc. Hopefully you’re still signed in and can recover your Apple ID email address quickly.
Another method is to look for messages from Apple in your email account. For example, if you have a Gmail account and a Yahoo account, use the search bar and enter “Apple”. The email address used for your Apple ID will have an email from the company.
You can also check your Google account for saved logins. Go to your favorite web browser, open the Apple website and see if your email autofills. If it doesn’t work, check the browser’s saved login page. Make sure you’re signed in to an account you use regularly with that browser.
Create Apple Account
If none of these methods work, try signing in to your Apple account with all of your email addresses. If you still know the password, you should be able to access it immediately. If you do not remember your password, click on the ‘Forgot password’ link and follow the instructions. If you do not receive a reset email, the address you are trying is not the correct one.
Yes! At least most users can. Just follow the same steps as above to enter a new phone number. If you don’t see the option to change your phone number, it might be because of your region. If you’re in a region that doesn’t allow Apple ID changes, there’s no way to update your Apple ID.
Changing your iCloud email address can be a bit confusing, whether it’s a primary or secondary email address. As long as your primary iCloud address doesn’t end with “@icloud.com”, Apple allows you to change it. You can change your iCloud email address using your Apple ID, either on your iPhone or desktop browser.
