If you purchased your domain name through GoDaddy, you have two different options to point your domain name (or any other host). You can edit or add a new A record, which is what this article focuses on. Alternatively, you can use the premium DNS feature with Amazon Route 53 and change your nameservers on GoDaddy.
Start by locating and copying your site’s IP address (IPv4) in My under your site’s info tab. This is the IP address you need to point your domain to GoDaddy.
Next, sign in to your GoDaddy account. If your domain doesn’t automatically take you to the products you can see (you may need to scroll down the page a bit), click My Account in the top right corner and select Domains under Quick Links.
Alternatively, you can click on your name in the upper left corner and select My Products from the drop-down menu.

If you see the message “We can’t display your DNS information because your name servers are not managed by us.” This means that your DNS is not managed by GoDaddy and you need to add or edit your record that now points to your domain’s nameservers. We recommend pointing the www version of your domain by making sure the www CNAME points to your source domain.
In the Records section of the Manage DNS page, look for the CNAME record in the Type column with your root domain (example.com) in the Data column.
If you have a www CNAME and it points to something other than your base domain, edit the entry and change the value to @, unless it needs to point somewhere else (which is not common).

If you don’t see the www CNAME for your domain, click the Add button and enter the details below:
To add or edit an A record to a subdomain in GoDaddy, follow the steps above to add or edit an existing A record, but use the appropriate subdomain instead of @ in the Name field.
For example, to add blog.yourdomain.com as a subdomain, enter blog in the Name field when adding a new A record.
If you previously added the blog.yourdomain.com subdomain, find and edit the existing subdomain in your DNS records.

If you want to manage your DNS on GoDaddy, you need to point your nameservers back to GoDaddy so you can manage your DNS there.
Before moving your nameservers back to GoDaddy, it is essential that you copy all existing DNS records from your current DNS host so that you can add them to your GoDaddy DNS. If you move your nameservers back to GoDaddy without including your domain’s current DNS records, this may cause downtime for your site and disruption of any services associated with your domain (eg mail, anything that requires DNS verification, etc.).
To do this, see the Name Servers section on the same DNS Management page and click the Change button.
In the Edit Nameservers popup that appears, select I want to use GoDaddy’s default nameservers (recommended) and click Save when prompted.
