It’s important to me to use quality ingredients to make nutritious smoothies for my family, so during a recent visit to my local Safeway store, I picked up some Open Nature® Plant-Based Chocolate Protein Powder and Creamy Maple Almond Butter, along with O. Organics ®Original Unsweetened Almond Milk.

Organics and Open Nature brands regularly because I like to eat plant-based whenever possible. Each brand has an extensive line of high-quality, “better-for-you” plant-based products that are budget-friendly, high in protein, and a great alternative to meat without sacrificing quality or taste.

O Organics® offers USDA certified organic plant-based products and Open Nature® offers minimally processed plant-based products without 110 food additives.

For those on a low-carb or keto diet, cauliflower makes a great substitute for bananas in smoothies. Simply freeze cauliflower florets or use frozen riced cauliflower for a nice chunky texture. For more information, see Eating Bird Food’s Chocolate Cauliflower Smoothie.

Ice thickens the smoothies, but I prefer not to use it because it makes the smoothies waterier. For best results, use frozen fruit instead of ice cream.
