Ice cream fresh out of the freezer. When you are making shakes, it is important to use fully frozen ice cream to make the shakes.
Ripe bananas. Ripe plantains are best used in this recipe. If you have bananas that look a bit overripe, these will work just fine too.

Chocolate milk is simply chocolate-flavored milk. But chocolate shakes are made with chocolate ice cream and a full fat/full milk base.
You can add lots of ice and use frozen bananas in the recipe, but I highly recommend adding ice cream because that’s where all the flavor is!
Whole or whole milk is best for this recipe, but you can also use skim milk. The consistency, however, will be a bit thin.
