How To Create Video Presentation In Powerpoint – I’ve had many presenters ask if they could speak in Microsoft Teams or Zoom meetings by placing their video next to PowerPoint slides so their facial expressions can easily be seen alongside the slides. This is not how Teams and Zoom usually work. When you share your screen or slideshows, the webcam video shrinks to a small bar in the corner of the viewer screen. The viewer can swap the video and slides, but then the video will be large and the slides will be small (and unreadable). As the presenter, you have no control over the format used by the viewer.
If you’re using Teams, the new Presenter modes give you the ability to place your video on top of or next to the content you’re sharing. Read this article explaining this new option and how to use it with slides.]
How To Create Video Presentation In Powerpoint
I’ve found a solution that gives you more control over what viewers see without having to install additional software. The idea is to place our video and slides on our desktop and share the entire screen so we can control the size of both the video and slides. It doesn’t require any software installation and uses the built-in features of Windows 10 and PowerPoint (for Mac, see this article). There are five steps.

New option for Zoom! Zoom now lets you share files across multiple windows. This article and video show you another way to share your video next to your slides in Zoom.
This approach involves sharing the entire screen, so we need to make it as clean as possible so that there are no distracting elements.
Right-click on the desktop and in the “View” submenu, uncheck “Show desktop icons”. This hides the icons that are on the desktop.
How To Export Presentation To Video • Presentationpoint
We don’t want other applications to be visible, so close or at least minimize all applications except the PowerPoint window that contains the file you will be presenting.
The taskbar is usually found at the bottom of the desktop. In this approach, we need to hide the taskbar. Right-click in an open area of the taskbar and select “Taskbar Settings” to open the taskbar settings section. Set “Lock the taskbar” to “Off” and set “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” to “On”.
This will make the taskbar disappear. You can call it up by moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen.
To prevent notifications from appearing during a presentation, click the notification area in the lower right corner of the screen. Press the Focus Assist button until it switches to Alarms Only state.

With this approach, you’ll run your PowerPoint presentation in the PowerPoint window and not full screen, which is the case by default.
On the presentation ribbon, click the Customize Presentation button. In the dialog, change the View Type to Viewed by user (window).
Since the slides will be placed next to the video window on your screen, you have the option of seeing different sized slides that may better fill the screen next to the video window.
Your video will be shown using the Windows 10 camera app. Open the app and select your webcam as the camera source. If you have multiple cameras installed on your device, you can change the camera source by clicking the “Change Camera” icon in the upper left corner of the app.
How To Add A Video In Google Slides
Select a camera mode by clicking the Take Photo icon in the vertical list to the right of the image.
If you want to change your webcam settings, click the settings gear icon. If you are using an external webcam, this application may not be able to access the camera settings and you may need to use a webcam manufacturer application to change the settings.
You will not record in this application, you will simply use the preview to make your video available on your desktop.
Position your desktop so that you see as many video thumbnails and slides as possible next to the video window. The layout should be closest to the top of the desktop and fill the entire width of the desktop.
How To Loop A Video In Powerpoint And Play Endlessly
If you want the video on the left and the slides on the right, drag the Camera app window part way off the left side of the screen to crop the app window so you don’t see any icons to the left of the video. Position the PowerPoint window above the Camera app window so that it cuts off the right side of the video and covers the icons to the right of the video.
When you connect to a Teams or Zoom meeting, don’t share your webcam during the meeting. A webcam can usually only be connected to one app, so leave it connected to the Camera app only. If you need to share your webcam during a meeting, turn it off before presenting.
Make sure your PowerPoint presentation is in Presentation mode, which will only display slides in the PowerPoint window. You can then share your entire screen to Teams or Zoom.
If you’re sharing your screen in Zoom, make sure you check the box at the bottom of the sharing dialog to optimize screen sharing for your video clip. This will make your video much better for the audience.
How To Create A Video Presentation
The viewer will see your video next to the slides because they see the camera preview next to the PowerPoint window on their desktop.
When you finish presenting, stop sharing your screen. Turn on the webcam during the meeting if you like.
The default color theme in Office (and PowerPoint) is called Colorful. This places a thin red border around the PowerPoint window. It might look like a red border between your video and slides. If you want a less bold border, change the Office theme to dark gray. In PowerPoint, click File and choose Options. In the General section, set the Office theme to Dark Gray.
In video preview mode, the Camera app places the timecode below the video image. You can see the 00:00 timecode in the screenshots above. The timecode is always closer to the bottom of the camera window. If you stretch the camera window too far, the timecode will move away from the video image, giving it a cleaner look.
How To Make A Powerpoint Presentation That Includes Audio And Video Files
When resizing the PowerPoint window, I find it’s best to have black bars at the top and bottom of the slides in Slideshow view within the window. This is especially useful if you use Zoom’s advanced sharing feature to share part of your screen. It’s easier to choose a clean area to share if you have the famous black bars above and below your slides.
Place slides under the webcam whenever possible. This allows you to watch your slides during the presentation and it will appear as if you are watching a webcam. If your slides are shifted to one side, every time you look at them, your audience will see your eyes shift to that side.
If your webcam manufacturer has an app that lets you preview the video feed and adjust settings like zoom level, focus area, and lighting, consider using that app instead of the Camera app for better control over video quality. . If the app has a dark mode, that’s usually for the best, as the app’s white borders won’t distract your audience. Check this setting as sometimes these apps can cause a delay in the video sent to Teams or Zoom and your video will not be in sync with the audio.
Even if you don’t want to (or aren’t allowed to) install the broadcast software on your computer, you can use the built-in Camera app in conjunction with your windowed PowerPoint presentation to place video next to your slides when presenting in a Teams or Zoom meeting .
