How To Play Violin For Beginners Step By Step – When you start playing the violin, the first thing your left hand will learn is first position. This is the basic finger position and all other violin positions are listed here.
The first position on the violin is to place the left hand in its basic position, which is at the end of the fingerboard nut. By default, the first finger stops the note one tone (a whole step) above the open string.

The first position refers to the position of the hand, not the fingers, and the fingers can be placed in the default position, which is usually indicated by beginners with ribbons or by individually moving up or down a semitone. It rarely happens that all the fingers play only the notes where the fret is, but the position of the hands remains the same.

The first violin position is to place the nut 36 mm or 1 and 7/16 inches with the index finger at the end of the fretboard or fret nut. This way you can play A on the G string, E on the D string, B on the A, and F# on the E string.
Your hand is in first position with the first finger on the A string B near the scroll, the second finger on the C#, the third finger on the D, and the fourth finger on the E.

With this hand position, you can move individual fingers up or down a half step when you are in the first position. This allows for the different finger patterns needed to play different key signatures.

To help your left hand develop good habits and navigate the fretboard, you’ll want to follow the instructions as a beginner. This is what it will look like when the tapes are inserted. This will ensure that your finger placement is correct and that you can play in tune even in the early stages.
Each tape must find the correct position. You can use a chart that shows the exact distance between the nut and each fret, or you can check the note with a tuner by placing your finger on one of the strings to make sure it’s correct.

On the first tape, you can play the B on the A string, and when you play this, place the tape exactly where your finger was. Check the accuracy of the tape by playing the notes on each string to make sure they are the correct notes.
The first tab will help you play A on the G string, E on the D string, B on the A string, and F# on the E string. If you look at the next picture, you can see that they are all lined up on the fretboard.
If any of them are out of tune during playback, lift the tape and adjust it slightly. Check back later. Do this until the tape is in place.
The second tab follows the second green line, so the notes will be B, F#, C#, and G# respectively, the third tab will be on the CGDA line, and the last on the DAEB line.

When you place your fingers on the string, each finger will go over one of the tabs on the violin. This fiddle finger is the first, most basic finger pattern. In this toe system, you have a normal first toe, a raised second toe, and a normal third and fourth toe.

Correct posture helps you play correctly and avoid pain. Let’s explore the elements of proper violin posture for playing in first position.
First, your posture should be straight, your spine should be vertical, and your head should be comfortably above your spine and straight. This is the same whether you are standing or sitting.
If you are standing, place your feet shoulder-width apart. Some people place their left foot slightly forward of the right in a V shape, although this is not necessary.
If you are sitting, make sure that your seat is tilted slightly forward so that your knees are below the level of the seat. This will tilt your hips forward a bit and make it easier to keep your back straight.

Once you’ve figured out your body posture, you can rest the violin on your shoulder and not accidentally bend or tilt your body to hold the violin.
Place your chin on the chin rest and let the weight of your head rest on the violin. You don’t need to lean on your side, if you do you will end up with postural problems and pain.
Your head is heavy enough to push down on the violin and hold it in place without any extra effort or grip.
The left hand helps hold the violin up and in place, but it has a different job, so your head does most of the work of holding the violin.
Ways To Hold A Violin
At this point you are ready to place the bow on the field. Place the bow on the strings, over the gap between the bridge and the end of the fingerboard. When you first place a bow on a violin, the middle of the bow can be positioned by touching the string. Make sure the bow is at right angles to the fingerboard.
In this position, the right elbow forms a right angle. As the bow is moved to make the sound, the elbow opens and closes to keep the bow straight.
As you switch between strings, you adjust the vertical position of your elbow depending on which string you are playing.
Check that your wrists are relatively straight and that there should be no strong bends, as this will cause tension and stiffness. Instead, find a relaxing way to stay upright.
